Dr. Petersen told us that the verbal report from the bone marrow biopsy confirms that Ian is in the chronic phase of CML. So if everything keeps going like it is, Ian should be able to go home on Thursday and just take the Gleevec. So that is really good news.
The social worker came in today to talk to us about our insurance and things like that. One of the things he said is that the Gleevec costs eight thousand dollars a month. Fortunately there are programs that will help us pay for it. He said based on our income, we should probably get it for free. There are benefits to being a poor college student after all.

Wow. Yeah for Gleevec, but that is nuts! Maybe Ian should forget about dental school and invent new drugs! We are very grateful that is the diagnosis and treatment plan, and we will keep you in our prayers. Love you!
