Odds and Ends

Winter semester is over and Spring term has started. This is our cultural experience of the nursing program, so I'll be working with refugees in Salt Lake. It should be a pretty easy term as long as I can finish before Fred is born. The term officially ends the week before she is due. All of my assignments I can do online, so really I just need to get all of my clinical hours done as soon as I can, just to be safe.

Every year BYU sponsors the Rex Lee run which is named after a former president who died of cancer. This year, some of our friends from the ward ran it for Ian. We don't have any pictures from the actual run, but they all signed this shirt for Ian. (The hand-prints are from their little kids). Everyone in our ward has been so supportive, and even though we haven't needed anything, its good to know that so many people would be there in a second if we did.

Everything is still going well with Ian. His blood counts did drop a little when he started taking medications again, but that was expected, and now they're on the way back up. Since its been almost 3 months since he started taking the Gleevec/Tasigna they'll be doing some more in depth tests to see how he's doing. This is one of the milestones he has to meet before he can be officially in remission. The test isn't for a few weeks though, since it hasn't been quite 3 months yet.

I ended up getting a week off in between winter semester and summer term since I took my finals really early, so I got to work on getting everything ready for Fred. The main project was going through all of the random stuff we had sitting in Fred's bedroom, so there would actually be room for the crib. Then of course we had to get the crib and put it together and everything. I also made a crib sheet, a receiving blanket, and a nursing cover.
This is the nursing cover. It doesn't really look like anything not on a person, but I was not ready to take a fake nursing picture. Surprisingly, Ian didn't want to be a model either.
Making sure all of the pieces were there and in good condition. Ian didn't actually put it together, I did, though only because he's been working crazy hours because of bad weather and I was too impatient to wait.
The watermelon fabric is the sheet and the polkadot is the blanket.
This is my newest project. Since we can't paint and we're too cheap to buy a wall decal, I'm in the process of making one out of contact paper and fabric. Hopefully it won't look quite as weird when it has leaves. I discovered that it's a lot harder to draw a 6 foot tree than a 10 inch tree.

Ian and I had a pretty good Easter. We didn't dye eggs, but I did hide eggs for Ian. We're getting ready for next year, so Ian can help Fred dominate at the Bergeson Easter egg hunt.
This is Ian's happy face. You be the judge of whether it's real or not.

He found it.

Since I put up pictures of Ian I figured I had to put one of me to be fair. This at 30 weeks.

  2. My sister-in-law is amazing!! I am seriously twice as large as you, and I am only 16 weeks. I should maybe put down the Blizzard. Ahhh, never mind.
I can't wait to watch Ian, I mean Fred, go up against the girls next year in the Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Bunny put out a few eggs with money in them this year, and the girls liked that even better than the candy. Good luck getting school done in time!
