A Little Bit of Everything

On Wednesday Ian's platelets were 25 again, which apparently is what the doctor was expecting. Apparently the platelets tend to go down to the mid-twenties, stay there a little while and then will go back up. So now we just have to wait for the going up part. After that, Ian may actually switch back to the Tasigna. Dr. Rich says that people's blood counts don't get as low with Tasigna as with Gleevec, though they still get low. But since the Tasigna is so much more of a bother, we have to decide if the benefits of the Tasigna are that much better than the Gleevec. Dr. Rich has been asking around to see what other doctors' opinions are, so we'll see.

ASDOH, the dental school in Arizona told Ian this week that they have filled their class and their waiting list, but if people drop off then they'll consider him. That doesn't seem likely at all, so pretty much we know we're not going to Mesa. Iowa is still an option, though in the last few weeks we've been thinking a lot more about going back to Royal City. Ian has really wanted to farm all along, but for various reasons thought that being a dentist was the way to go. We haven't decided anything yet. If he does get into Iowa we would have a hard time saying no, but our priorities have changed a lot since February 10, for obvious reasons.

Fred and I are doing pretty well. On Monday, I'll be in the third trimester. In the last week I've been enjoying some of the wonderful things that go along with getting near the end of pregnancy. Ian just laughs, depending on what the problem is. Don't worry, it just means extra poopy diapers he gets to change later on. It's only fair.
